Providing Alternative Education Pathways
An Individualised Approach
At Sophia High School, we recognise that traditional classroom environments do not work for every student. That’s why we offer customised alternative education programs to re-engage struggling, at-risk or non-traditional learners.
Our DfE accredited online school provides the flexibility students need to succeed. In fact, we are the only Accredited Online Provider in the UK. Through small online classes, self-paced learning, and innovative technologies like virtual reality, we make education accessible.
Empowering Students
Each student receives an individualised learning plan tailored to their academic level, interests, and needs. With regular one-on-one teaching sessions, we ensure no child falls through the cracks. We create an encouraging environment where students feel empowered to take ownership of their learning. Online small group classes promote collaboration, while self-paced lessons allow students to experience success at their level.
For students hoping to eventually transition back to a mainstream setting, we proactively liaise with receiving schools to share effective strategies and insights. We provide continued support during their integration to set them up for success.
Our interactive online platform makes learning exciting again. Live online classes, virtual reality lessons, polls, discussions, and clubs re-engage reluctant learners. We meet students where they are academically and socially.
Meeting Diverse Needs
For students who have become disengaged from school due to behavioural challenges, mental wellbeing and anxiety, trauma, health issues, or other circumstances, we create personalised plans that allow them to rediscover the joy of learning at their own pace. Preparing for the Future Our skills-focused curriculum develops critical competencies like communication, critical thinking, and creativity to prepare students for career success. We guide each learner in exploring pathways aligned to their strengths.
Partnership for Progress By collaborating closely with families, counsellors, and community providers, we surround each student with a support network committed to their growth and achievement.
We have seen first-hand how innovative learning models can empower alternative education students to thrive.
Fostering Wellbeing
Through our program of fitness, wellbeing and meditation, weekly PSHE lessons, counselling, community building, and emotional learning, we nurture resilience, confidence, and belonging so students feel valued. Happy students learn best. Our interactive online platform makes learning exciting again. Live online classes, virtual reality lessons, polls, discussions, and clubs re-engage reluctant learners. Regular positive feedback, goal-setting, and strengths-based exercises help rebuild self-esteem. As students experience wins in our online classroom, they gain the confidence to succeed. Small online classes allow for deep teacher-student relationships. Social time and peer mentoring facilitate friendship and community. Counsellor check-ins provide additional support. We address the whole child.
