About us

Our Team

Known by name. Taught by the best.

At Sophia, small class sizes and daily live teaching mean every child is known by name. That is only possible because we are equally deliberate about who does the teaching, and who leads the school.

We are, first, a school of educators. Sophia High School was founded in 2020 by a leadership team of former headteachers.  Together our senior leaders collectively hold over  100 years of combined experience in outstanding British schools.  Every teacher who delivers a Sophia lesson is fully qualified and experienced in the British curriculum, and every appointment we make — teaching, leadership or support — passes through the same rigorous safer recruitment process expected of any leading independent school in England.

Sophia High School is a premium British online independent school for students aged 4–18, accredited by the UK Department for Education (through the Ofsted-delivered Online Education Accreditation Scheme) and an accredited member of the Independent Schools Association (ISA) and the Council of British International Schools (COBIS). The people you are about to meet are the reason those accreditations mean what they mean.

Sophia is structured for accountability:

  • Our Founders set the school’s purpose, ethos and standards, and remain closely involved in its leadership.
  • Our Senior Leadership Team runs the school day-to-day across pastoral care, academics, safeguarding and inclusion.
  • Our Teachers are fully qualified British-curriculum specialists who deliver every live lesson.
