We publish those results here in full — because the standard we hold ourselves to is one that families should be able to see, not simply take on trust.
Sophia High School’s first IGCSE cohort achieved a distinguished set of outcomes in 2025. From a deliberately small cohort, strength across the academic core was unmistakable: 72% of all grades were 5–9, with 34% at the top 7–9 band.

Sophia’s Pearson Edexcel International A-Levels carry the same academic weight as A-Levels taken at any physical British school, and are recognised by Russell Group universities in the United Kingdom, Ivy League institutions in the United States, and leading universities worldwide.
Sophia High School is the only online school in the United Kingdom to run both the GL CAT4 and the GL Progress Tests — the same two instruments used across the leading physical British independent schools to measure academic potential and attainment objectively, and to evidence value-added progress rigorously.
The GL Cognitive Abilities Test, Fourth Edition (CAT4) assesses reasoning across four domains — verbal, quantitative, non-verbal and spatial — to establish an objective picture of each pupil’s academic potential. Sophia uses CAT4 to set ambitious, evidenced targets and to identify pupils whose current attainment does not yet reflect their capability.
The GL Progress Tests in English, Mathematics and Science measure current attainment against national data from schools across the United Kingdom. Sat each summer, they give pupils, teachers and families an unambiguous, independently benchmarked answer to a simple question: how is my child progressing, compared to the national picture?
In 2026, Sophia pupils once again achieved higher standards than the national average in all three core subjects. The aggregate Standardised Age Score across English, Mathematics and Science rose to 107 (2026), up from 106.3 in 2025 and 101 in 2024 — a third consecutive year above the national average of 100, and attainment in every core subject sitting above the cohort’s CAT4 baseline.

Behind the aggregate figures sit individual stories. Several IGCSE pupils have achieved final grades one to two grades above their CAT4 baseline predictions. Others made rapid moves from low starting points to secure passes within a single academic year. These outcomes reflect the impact of small classes, subject-specialist teaching and precise, weekly feedback that targets gaps while stretching the most able.
