Six or seven subjects rather than ten is a deliberate academic choice: strong grades in the core carry more weight in competitive admissions than a longer list of mid-tier passes.

IGCSE examinations run in May/June and November.

FAQs
Yes. International GCSEs are accepted by UK universities, including selective ones, on the same basis as domestic GCSEs.
Not when the profile is strong and coherent. Selective universities look at academic readiness, subject relevance and evidence of depth. A higher GCSE count is not automatically an advantage.
In many subjects, yes. Psychology, Law and Economics commonly accept students without the matching GCSE, provided English and Maths are strong. A-Level Mathematics, the sciences and modern languages usually require prior subject foundations.
Often yes, with a planned step-down. We work through it with you before anything is confirmed.
Yes. Sophia was selected for the Pearson Edexcel Remote Invigilation Service, so official Edexcel IGCSEs can be sat from home using an approved multi-camera setup, or at an approved centre if you prefer.
In most cases, yes, subject to availability and how far the cohort has progressed through the specification. We plan a tailored catch-up transition.
We don’t require a full timetable on day one. Students can begin with one or two subjects and build up as confidence returns.
Yes. We’re DfE-accredited, Ofsted-registered and part of COBIS, which gives councils the structured-provision evidence they typically require. We provide the attendance reporting and CAT4 data councils expect.
No. Exam entry fees are charged separately. Most Sophia students sit official Pearson Edexcel exams from home under live remote invigilation, from £150 per paper plus the standard entry fee. Families who would rather use a physical exam centre can do so, and centre fees are charged by that centre directly.
