I have had the pleasure of working in British secondary schools for twenty years as an English teacher, including many years leading a highly successful department and improving students’ progress with core literacy skills across the curriculum. I enjoy teaching all areas of English and appreciate how diverse the topics and texts available to teachers and students are, but my particular specialisms are English Language and Literacy.
I have worked as an examiner for various exam boards and this has informed my practice with students who will set exams at the end of their course of study, helping them understand not only the complexities of the English curriculum, but also how to tailor their knowledge and skills for ultimate success. I strive to make lessons engaging, inclusive, personalized and effective for all of my students and to foster a life-long love of reading in them.
