Karen Kelleher

Karen is an experienced English educator who puts personalised learning at the heart of student success. A fully qualified teacher with registrations in both Ireland and the UK, she holds a Professional Master of Education and a BA in English and History from University College Cork. Karen has a wealth of experience across the Irish and UK educational systems in a range of settings.

Joining Sophia High School’s English and ALN Departments, Karen brings a deep commitment to inclusive practice. She honed her skills at a specialist college in London where she planned and delivered a specialised curriculum for learners with a variety of needs including ASD, SEMH and MLD. This hands-on experience is complemented by her work online, where she excels at designing individualised lessons that build student confidence and prepare them for academic success.

At the heart of Karen’s teaching is a holistic philosophy. She is committed to fostering a safe and encouraging atmosphere, believing this is the true foundation for personal growth and academic achievement. Her primary goal is to empower every student to reach their full potential.

A great believer in the value of curiosity, Karen spends her personal time exploring new worlds, whether through travel, a captivating book or a compelling film. She is also an avid walker who loves spending time outdoors.
