Supporting Student Needs

At Sophia High, we understand each child learns differently. Our small classes and adaptive technologies provide personalised support so all students can thrive.

That’s why we offer robust support to identify unique needs and empower every student to thrive academically and socially.

Assessing Abilities & Scaffolding

Our inclusive admissions process involves assessing cognitive, language, and learning profiles. This helps match students with the right academic program and support resources from the start.

We follow the PAWS Framework – partnering with families and students to identify needs and provide ongoing accommodations. Goals are tailored to each learner.

An Individualised Approach

Additional Learning Needs Coordinator

No two students learn the same way. Our student-centred model identifies and accommodates each child’s unique profile.

Our learning specialist team, led by ALN Coordinator Ms. Andrea Dix, caters instruction to suit different learning styles. Ms Andrea works with families during he admissions process and throughout a child’s educational journey with Sophia High School, providing, support and guidance to ensure all children thrive.

Adaptable technologies deliver personalised learning pathways. 1:1 tutoring and small group support addresses individual barriers.

As a school, we are always exploring new ways to support student learning with disruptive technologies including VR and AI

If you have questions about our Learning Support please email Andrea.dix@sophiahigh.school

Empower ESL Students

As a global school we recognise that English is not every child’s native language. Although our language of instruction is English, and children are expected to have a working knowledge of reading, writing and speaking, English language learners receive additional scaffolding to access curriculum as they build proficiency. For ESL student who will initially have difficultly accessing the full UK National Curriculum for England, we may offer an initial course of intensive English Language Lessons with our team or provide a transition timetable to support students adapting to learning in a new language in order to develop skills and confidence.

Fostering Wellbeing

Through our program of fitness, wellbeing and meditation, weekly PSHE lessons, counseling, community building, and emotional learning, we nurture resilience, confidence, and belonging so students feel valued. Happy students learn best.
