March Mile Madness: Running from London to Toronto for Youth Athletes
The traditional education system rarely adapts to the routine of those who dedicate their lives to sport. Young athletes often train at the crack of dawn and face the exhaustion of balancing competitions with rigid school timetables.
This is exactly why Sophia High School was created—to solve this problem and offer genuine flexibility. To highlight this cause, we launched #MarchMileMadness.
This March, our global community has united for a collective physical challenge. The goal is to cover 3,459 miles (5,566 km)—the exact distance between London and Toronto—one mile at a time.
4 Key Aspects of the Challenge
- The Core Cause: The focus is on raising funds and awareness about the role of women in sport and the difficulties faced by young athletes. We want to support girls who deserve better than exclusionary sporting models and inflexible educational systems.
- The Practical Challenge: The target is collective. Students, parents, and staff at Sophia High School have already started logging their activities. The rule is straightforward: for one month, you run, walk, or cycle, and we add your distance to our journey towards Toronto.
- The Power of Community (Peloton and WHOOP): To ensure accountability and reach, we are inviting major fitness communities to join the cause. We challenge the users of Peloton Interactive, which gets millions moving daily, and WHOOP, the brand for those who refuse to quit, to dedicate their miles to girls in sport.
- How to Get Involved: Anyone, anywhere in the world, can participate. Just tie your laces, log your distance, and make a donation. The process is quick, and every step counts towards our final target of 3,459 miles.
Sport and education must progress together, without students having to sacrifice one for the other.
