Chris Barnes a UK-qualified educator and leader, with over 25 years’ experience in schools in the UK, Europe and South-East Asia.   Chris has held a range of leadership positions including Assistant Head. He has a passion for digital learning and exploring how this can improve student outcomes.

As a reflective practitioner, Chris ensures a diverse range of students’ needs are being met and he is known for going ‘above and beyond’, spending time with colleagues, students and their families to ensure that success is something meaningful – and reminding them that success looks different for everyone.  As the saying goes: ‘not everything that counts can be counted; not everything that can be counted, counts.’

Outside of school, Chris is a Lead Volunteer with Scouts and part of the adult training team for British Scouting Overseas.  He is passionate about spending time outdoors and enjoys travelling with his wife and daughters.  If not doing any of these, he will be found with a large cup of tea and a book.

Chris joins Sophia High School as the new Head of Student Success.
